BFI's 'LGBT Britain' Collection

This is a free collection of clips and films from British LGBTIQ+ culture of the last 100 years.

Black Past's 'With Pride'

Black Past is an online reference portal for black history, with an emphasis on African American history. Their 'With Pride' collection is "dedicated to presenting the history of people of African descent who are also Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, and Queer (LGBTQ)".

Clavmag

Clavmag is a digital lit magazine that publishes creative writing from queer, trans and non-binary authors. All their stories and poems are also illustrated and read aloud, often by the writers.

Daikon* Queer Asian Readings

This is a list of samples from queer zines and graphic novels centring Asian and South-East Asian experience. The samples were compiled and read by Hanna Gunji Stephens for the Daikon* X Book 28 crossover workshop, and include the 'Queer / Trans' issue of Daikon* zine, which is available free online.

Digital Transgender Archive

The Digital Transgender Archive is a portal that links together trans archives from around the Internet. You can search by map or keyword, and view news clippings, magazines, pictures and videos for free, including the 'Oral Histories with People of Color' collection.

Google Arts & Culture

The Google Arts & Culture hub has lots of good LGBTIQ+ content like special collections and 'museum from home' tours. Check out the Glasgow Women's Library's "LGBTQ Collection", the Nakamura Keith Haring collections, and this "Pride" theme page on commemorating Stonewall.

Leeds Queer Film Festival

In lieu of their meatspace festival, Leeds Queer Film Festival are maintaining a spreadsheet of queer movies that are available to watch free over the Internet.

Open Library Reading List

Open Library offers free digitised books, most with an automated 'read aloud' option. The reading list is LGBTIQ+ books I've found, everything from erotica to theory. I have not read most of these books so cannot vouch for quality.

Podcasts

There are lots of wonderful free LGBTIQ+ podcasts around the world - check out Attitude's recommended list for examples. Some of our favourite UK-based ones are: Istame'a ('Listen'), the podcast from LGBTIQ+ Muslim charity Hidayah UK; Two Twos Podcast focused on the Black British community; Pride and Joy, a BBC podcast that discusses queers having kids; and the Log Books Podcast, which tells recent LGBTIQ+ history by leafing through the logbooks of the LGBT+ Switchboard, which go all the way back to 1974.

Sliding Scale Works by Trans Writers

Dr Harry Josephine has started this Twitter thread for trans writers to post their downloadable work. All the works are sliding scale, so available free to those without money to pay.

Small Trans Library

The small trans library is a free lending library of books by and about trans people. They have one branch in Dublin and one in Glasgow. They can post books from their collection anywhere in the UK and Ireland, and regularly do free events.

Untitled Voices

Untitled is a platform that amplifies underrepresented writers, including LGBTIQ+ creatives. Twice a year they publish Untitled: Voices, which platforms writers from around they world. You can read their issues online for free.

Queer Comics Database
Queer Comics Database is a catalogue of comics and graphic novels that lets you search by queer representation, race of main character and series type, such as 'free online'. Although most of the comics have to be sourced elsewhere, it's a great place to find new items for your reading list.

Queerlings

In their own words, 'Queerlings is an online magazine dedicated to uplifting the LGBTQIA+ community by offering queer writers a dedicated platform to showcase their writing. We publish fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, essays, articles and reviews that explore the depths of queer experience.'
